Job Summary:
We are seeking a Mechanical Construction Engineer with 5-10 years of experience in industrial construction, specifically in chemical plant projects. The candidate will be responsible for managing mechanical construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams for the successful execution of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Execution & Supervision:
- Oversee the installation, erection, and commissioning of mechanical equipment, piping, and structural steel works.
- Ensure work progress aligns with project timelines and specifications.
- Conduct site inspections and resolve technical issues during execution.
- Quality & Safety Compliance:
- Implement and enforce safety protocols as per industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure quality control in mechanical construction activities, including welding, fabrication, and material handling.
- Technical Coordination & Documentation:
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and isometric diagrams.
- Coordinate with design, procurement, and construction teams to resolve engineering issues.
- Maintain documentation for material approvals, work permits, and progress reports.
- Vendor & Contractor Management:
- Supervise subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project specifications and contractual obligations.
- Conduct regular meetings with vendors, procurement teams, and construction supervisors.
- Equipment & Piping Work:
- Oversee the installation of pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and other process equipment.
- Supervise piping (including inline components, supports) erection, hydro-testing and commissioning activities.
- Reporting & Communication:
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for management review.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
Key Requirements:
- Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: 5-10 years in mechanical construction for chemical plants, refineries, or process industries.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, piping, welding, and structural fabrication.
- Experience with ASME, API, and IS codes related to mechanical construction.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project/Primavera, and construction management tools will be added advantage.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- ASME/AWS Welding Certification
- Safety Certifications (NEBOSH/IOSH)
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
