The Purchase Manager will be responsible for managing the procurement of materials and services necessary for the company s construction projects. This role involves negotiating with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials, and maintaining cost-effective inventory levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement within the construction industry, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for construction materials, equipment, and services.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish terms of agreements.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials and services to meet project schedules.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid delays in construction projects.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance, addressing any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to determine material needs and specifications.
- Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular market research to stay updated on industry trends and pricing.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Implement cost-saving measures and optimize procurement processes to achieve budgetary goals.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to procurement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing management, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent understanding of construction materials and equipment.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPM, CPSM).
