Turning/LATHE Operator

Role & responsibilities

• Set up lathes or turning machines for production tasks.
• Install, align, and secure workpieces and tools using chucks, collets, or clamps.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, tool holders, and machine speeds based on material and design specifications.
• Operate manual LATHES/TURNING to perform machining operations such as:
• Turning
• Facing
• Thread cutting
• Drilling
• Boring
• Grooving
• Monitor machine operations to ensure proper functioning and prevent errors.
• Machine components to exact dimensions and tolerances as specified in the design.
• Perform fine adjustments to ensure precision and accuracy.
• Read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD designs.
• Translate engineering specifications into actionable machining steps.
