A Senior CloudOps Engineer works with a high-performance technology team supporting enterprise applications, often using cloud-centric technologies. They are responsible for the deployment, management, and monitoring of cloud services across multiple platforms. This role involves collaborating with software developers, system operators, and other engineering team members

Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership and Management: Managing a team, including performance management, ensuring on-call rotas are in place, and handling general administrative tasks
• Cloud Infrastructure Management: Designing, developing, and implementing scalable and robust cloud infrastructure solutions, utilizing industry best practices for high availability, performance, and security. Utilizing infrastructure-as-code to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources
• CI/CD Pipeline Management: Managing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines to enable seamless software delivery and automated deployments across multiple environments is a key responsibility. This includes managing CI/CD processes and tooling and working with product development teams to ensure these processes are followed.
• Automation: Identifying and implementing automation opportunities to improve the efficiency of software development and deployment processes, such as infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitoring and troubleshooting cloud services to identify and resolve operational issues in a timely manner, often as part of a 24/7 on-call rotational basis.
• Collaboration: Collaborating with development, operations, and quality assurance teams to define and implement efficient workflows, ensuring the stability and reliability of production systems.
• Security: Maintaining virtual infrastructure security in compliance with best practices and company policies and procedures.
• Documentation: Building and maintaining high-quality documentation of standard operating procedures.

Skills Required:

• Cloud Platforms: Strong expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure, including infrastructure provisioning, networking, and security.
• DevOps Practices: Solid understanding of DevOps practices and methodologies, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automated testing.
• Configuration Management: Proficiency in configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Containerization: Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, any cloud native service.
• Scripting: Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) for automation and tooling development.
• CI/CD Tools: Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD.
• Monitoring and Logging Tools: Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Cloud Native, New Relic, ELK stack, or Datadog.
• Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field is typically required. A master's degree is sometimes preferred.
• Proven experience (typically 5+ years) working as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role, with a focus on cloud-based infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working in an agile environment with distributed and remote engineering teams is also beneficial
