GraphQL & TypeScript Developer

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced and passionate GraphQL & TypeScript Developer to join our team in developing a cutting-edge Fantasy Sports application. In this role, you will leverage your skills in GraphQL and TypeScript to build scalable, efficient APIs and seamless user experiences. You will work with a talented team of engineers, product managers, and designers to create innovative features that power fantasy sports experiences for users.

Key Responsibilities:

• GraphQL API Development:
• Design, develop, and maintain GraphQL APIs to serve data efficiently for the fantasy sports application, ensuring fast and optimized querying for large datasets.
• Implement and manage GraphQL schemas, resolvers, and mutations to support diverse features such as player stats, fantasy team management, and real-time scoring.
• TypeScript Backend Development:
• Use TypeScript to build clean, maintainable, and scalable backend services, ensuring strong type safety and consistency across the application.
• Implement backend logic that supports user interaction, such as creating and managing fantasy teams, handling player performance data, and real-time updates for game scores.
• Real-Time Features:
• Work with WebSockets or GraphQL Subscriptions to implement live updates for player scores, match results, and other real-time features critical to the fantasy sports experience.
• Data Integration & Optimization:
• Integrate multiple data sources, such as sports statistics APIs, user data, and external services, into the GraphQL API, ensuring data accuracy and performance.
• Optimize GraphQL queries to reduce latency and improve response times for both mobile and web clients.
• Collaboration:
• Work closely with front-end developers to ensure smooth integration of GraphQL APIs with the user interface, especially on mobile and web platforms.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to bring new features and updates to life, meeting business and user needs.
• Testing & Debugging:
• Write unit tests, integration tests, and performance tests to ensure the reliability and stability of the backend services.
• Debug and troubleshoot production issues to resolve bugs and improve system reliability.
• Documentation:
• Produce clear and comprehensive documentation for the GraphQL API, endpoints, and any relevant backend services.
• Ensure that TypeScript types are well-documented and usable by other team members.
• Continuous Improvement:
• Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in GraphQL, TypeScript, and fantasy sports development.
• Proactively identify areas for improvement in the architecture, performance, and user experience.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong Experience with GraphQL:
• Hands-on experience building GraphQL APIs with tools like Apollo Server, GraphQL.js, or other libraries.
• Ability to design and optimize GraphQL schemas, queries, and mutations to deliver performant and flexible data access.
• Proficiency with TypeScript:
• Extensive experience with TypeScript, including strong knowledge of types, interfaces, and other features that ensure type safety across the codebase.
• Familiarity with popular TypeScript frameworks and tools used in server-side development (Node.js, Express, NestJS, etc.).
• Backend Development:
• Solid understanding of backend development principles, including RESTful APIs, authentication/authorization, data storage (SQL/NoSQL), and integration with external services.
• Experience with building scalable and maintainable systems that handle large datasets and high traffic.
• Fantasy Sports Knowledge (Preferred):
• A strong interest or experience in fantasy sports platforms and games, understanding how the system works for both casual players and hardcore fantasy enthusiasts.
• Familiarity with how player statistics, real-time scores, and user interactions affect fantasy sports gameplay.
• Real-Time Data:
• Experience with real-time data technologies such as WebSockets, GraphQL Subscriptions, or other push technologies for live score updates and other dynamic interactions.
• Testing and Debugging:
• Experience with testing frameworks for unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing (e.g., Jest, Mocha).
• Strong debugging skills to quickly identify and fix issues in a fast-paced production environment.
• Version Control and Agile:
• Experience using Git for version control in a collaborative development environment.
• Familiarity with Agile development processes and tools like Jira, GitHub, or similar.
• Cloud & DevOps Knowledge (Preferred):
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure) to host and scale backend services for production systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Docker).

You will be part of the Multi-Channel Platform Web & Mobile Development Team at the Sciflare Technologies Pvt Ltd office in Chennai. (hr@sciflare.com), The role is office-based, working from Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 06:00 PM & all Saturdays & Sundays are off.
