Part of research and development team (Fermentation/Bioprocess, Molecular biology, Enzymology, Analytical, Bioinformatics) for metabolic engineering and biochemical analysis of pathways in yeast and E.coli for the production of high-value products such as flavor, fragrance, and nutritional ingredients. The primary responsibility of this position will be to design, and execute laboratory-scale fermentation process, molecular biology and enzymology based experiments, to develop and optimize new methodologies for strain and pathway engineering for increased production of high-value products in heterologous organisms like yeast and E.coli. The successful candidate will have significant experience in molecular biology, enzymology/biochemistry and a track record of successful problem solving and collaboration. This position will require a self-starting, results-oriented researcher, who will thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities will shift regularly.

Doctoral degree in a relevant life science field (ideally molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry and/or genetic/metabolic engineering) preferably with hands on experience in synthetic biology, pathway assembly, metabolic and enzyme engineering, gene cloning and handling of microbial hosts such as E.coli and yeast. Will also consider post graduate or M.S.Science with strong, relevant experience in these areas.

Ability and desire to design and execute experimental plans independently, and to independently gather data with high standards for data quality.

Identifies new directions for research from literature review and produces reports and documents utilizing advanced writing skills.

Anticipates, recognizes and resolves technical problems.

Maintains appropriate documentation so that information and materials are traceable and processes are transferable.

The candidate should also be able to take up writing projects seeking grants from all sources that include private, public and philanthropic ones.
