Job Description

Drive the department to deliver great product at supermarket price by fulfilling our Global Sourcing Strategy and successfully achieve our targets of the department

What I need to do

Implement all aspects of the department strategy to deliver all KPIs including shipment and sales participation targets; gain understanding on sales, margin performance and stock level analysis of the department
Responsible of the Periodic Shipment Report in the management of shipment position of the department
Deliver a robust supply base that complies with our terms and conditions, fulfils our Global Sourcing Strategy and meets our Ethical and Technical standards across all sites; ensuring supplier performance review takes place regularly
Drive the sourcing process from supplier engagement through to supplier set up
Maintain timely commercial awareness of developments within the supply base, gain understanding on market trend and proactively identify product opportunities
Responsible for the product development process from brief to selection with the supply base; prepare and attend buying trip, with clear follow up actions with all parties
Review quotation records and support price negotiations with suppliers to ensure margin objectives are met
Drive the order management process from purchase order, sealing and approval process to shipment delivery. Work with other supporting teams to ensure products can be delivered on time with agreed quality standards. Ensure purchase order records and critical path trackers are accurate and flagging potential risk
Take initiative to deal with disputes from order delivery and quality concerns
Establish strong communication with UK & Asia colleagues and suppliers via weekly progress meetings, e-mails, SKYPE and trips, etc
Drive the weekly progress management meetings with cross functional colleague in Asia and with UK colleagues providing clear visibility of order status
Have a thorough understanding of our operating procedures and be familiar with our systems and ways of working
Understand our business vision and goal; play a positive role in making Sainsbury s Asia a great place to work

How I will succeed

Understand General Merchandise strategy and Global Sourcing Strategy and make contribution to both
Achieve the commercial objectives for shipments and on time delivery; gain market knowledge
Strong communications with UK & Asia colleagues and suppliers
Follow the operational procedures to deliver great results
Communicate issues and proactively identify solutions on a timely basis; escalation procedure is essential
Invest time in own development and the development of the team
Demonstrate our colleague values at all times

What I need to know

3 years+ working experience in general merchandise industry with strong knowledge of production processes, techniques and product components
Excellent written and spoken English
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
University degree and above is prefer

What I need to show

Great at spotting issues and identifying potential solutions
Clear and confident communicator capable of building effective working relationships with colleagues
Good organisation skills and sound time management, excellent attention to detail
Ability to engage and motivate the direct reports on new ideas or ways of doing things
