Manager - Engineering Design

Role & responsibilities

Responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing the procedures involved in manufacturing processes. Duties include maximize the efficiency of production lines and planning factory layouts that optimize how products are made across entire facilities or warehouses, with multiple departments making up one system simultaneously.

Compiles and furnishes necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, Marketing Managers, Customers, supply management and/or supplier personnel

1. Conceptualize, design, and develop new products, systems, or structures based on project requirements and specifications.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, Marketing Teams, Customers, and manufacturing personnel, to understand design objectives, functionality, and manufacturing constraints.
3. Create detailed engineering drawings, models, and prototypes using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other design tools.- Solid Works, Tekla, Inventor, GD Drawing Study.
4. Conduct feasibility studies and perform analysis (such as stress, structural, or fluid dynamics analysis) to evaluate design concepts and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
5. Optimize designs for performance, cost-effectiveness, manufacturability, and reliability.
6. Provide technical support and guidance throughout the product development lifecycle, working closely with production and quality control teams.
7. Conduct testing and validation of prototypes and final products to ensure they meet design specifications and performance requirements.
8. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source components and materials and ensure they meet design and quality standards.
9. Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continually enhance design processes and product innovation.
10. Document design specifications, test results, and other relevant information in reports or technical documentation.
11. Collaborate with customers or clients to understand their requirements and incorporate their feedback into the design process.
12. Participate in design reviews, team meetings, and project presentations to communicate progress, challenges, and proposed solutions.
13. Receives and reviews all design changes issued by design engineers to our company
14. Provides Design for Manufacturing (DFM),
15. Undertakes the pull out and/or disposal of old/revised products affected by the design change
16. Updates engineering system data based on the contents of design change notices
17. Evaluates and resolves problems regarding function, parts and design
18. Scale up of process design as required for production

Preferred candidate profile

1. 10-15 Years Experience in Heavy Manufacturing Industry
2. Bachelor's degree in engineering in mechanical is mandatory. A master's degree preferred
3. Proven experience in product design, preferably in a relevant industry.
4. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant engineering tools.
5. Strong knowledge of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
6. Familiarity with design and analysis tools and other relevant software.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to overcome design challenges.
8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
9. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality designs.
10. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
11. Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines relevant to the specific industry.
12. Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and 3D printing technologies is desirable.
13. Familiarity with project management principles and practices
