We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Internal Communications Director to lead the development and execution of impactful communication strategies for American Express, India, the second-largest colleague base within our global organization. This role requires a visionary leader who can foster alignment, engagement, and a sense of belonging across a diverse and rapidly evolving colleague base.
The candidate must be an excellent storyteller, incredibly strong writer and be able to bring to life how American Express backs its card members, colleagues, and communities to an internal audience.
This position reports to Vice President, Corporate Affairs Communications, Asia.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive internal communications strategy aligned with the company s global vision and tailored to India s unique need
Partner with senior leadership to craft and deliver clear, consistent, and compelling messages that support business priorities.
Drive initiatives to inspire and engage colleagues, promoting the company s values, vision, and strategy
Lead innovative campaigns, town halls, leadership communications, and storytelling efforts to foster a sense of purpose and connection.
Ensure messaging is accessible, inclusive, and resonates with a culturally diverse audience.
Manage and enhance internal communication platforms (eg, intranet, emails, slack) to ensure effective delivery of key messages.
Stakeholder Collaboration: To achieve shared objectives and deliver results.
Measurement and Insights: Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness of internal communication initiatives and colleague engagement.
Use feedback and analytics to continuously improve strategies and tools.
Minimum Qualifications
15+ years in corporate communications, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing internal communications for large organizations (preferably MNCs).
Proven expertise in designing and executing large-scale communication strategies.
Exceptional writing, storytelling, and presentation skills.
Strong leadership abilities with a collaborative approach to stakeholder management.
Experience with digital communication tools and platforms.
Able to manage and respond quickly to multiple priorities while driving results and delivery against deadlines. Be calm under pressure.
