REASON FOR THE HIRE:
Nirvikalpa Foundation is seeking a dedicated PhD or MPhil scholar to lead, develop, and oversee research initiatives in Integral Self Therapy (IST) and other integrative therapeutic modalities.
The Foundation is committed to advancing the field of mental health in India by developing and validating psychotherapies that integrate Eastern and Western practices.
The Head of Research will play a critical role in the mission to establish Integral Self Therapy as a robust, evidence-based approach, shaping research that articulates Indias own validated psychotherapeutic methodologies.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research Strategy and Development
- Formulate and execute a research strategy (primary and secondary) aligned with the Foundations goals to advance Integral Self Therapy and integrative therapies, helping build an evidence base that draws from Indias unique cultural and philosophical heritage.
- Design and oversee clinical research trials to assess the efficacy of IST, an approach rooted in integrating Eastern philosophies and Western therapeutic techniques, as well as other related integrative therapies.
- Identify emerging trends, innovations, and research opportunities that align with Nirvikalpa Foundations mission to develop India-centric psychotherapies.
Research Proposal Evaluation and Quality Control
- Evaluate research proposals for potential funding, ensuring they align with the mission to support high-quality research in Indias mental health space.
- Provide feedback to researchers, maintaining a focus on ethical and rigorous methodology to uphold the integrity of the Foundations research goals.
- Ensure adherence to rigorous standards for research quality, ethics, and methodology, promoting a culture of excellence.
Grant Management and Oversight
- Manage the Foundations research grant portfolio, ensuring effective allocation of funds toward studies that advance the understanding and validation of IST and other integrative practices.
- Evaluate progress and outcomes of funded research projects, guiding grant recipients in meeting milestones and research objectives.
Research Communication and Dissemination
- Publish findings from IST studies and other integrative therapies in reputable journals, contributing to global conversations on integrative mental health.
- Represent the Foundation at conferences, promoting Integral Self Therapy as an innovative approach integrating the best of Eastern and Western therapeutic practices.
Team Leadership and Mentorship
- Lead and mentor the Foundations research team, fostering a collaborative environment dedicated to pioneering psychotherapies grounded in Indias cultural context.

The need for flexibility is required and the job holder is expected to carry out any other related duties that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
MUST HAVES:
- PhD or MPhil in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, psychiatry, integrative medicine).
- 10 years of demonstrated experience in clinical research, ideally in integrative therapies or culturally adapted psychotherapies.
- Commitment to advancing integrative and culturally relevant psychotherapies, particularly in the Indian context.
