General Manager - Safety - Behavior-Based Safety (15-18 yrs)

As a Senior Safety Professional specializing in Behavior-Based Safety (BBS), the role holder will operate in a complex and dynamic environment, overseeing safety across diverse industries such as manufacturing, energy, retail, telecom, and financial services, each with unique challenges and regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Head of Safety and based in Worli, Mumbai, the role holder will collaborate frequently with business safety teams, leaders, and frontline employees to implement BBS principles. This role involves approximately 40% travel to various operational sites for initiatives, training, and safety reviews, requiring a flexible and culturally sensitive approach to safety management across multiple geographies.

Responsibilities

- Engage with a diverse workforce to address the unique safety needs of various business units and cultural contexts.

- Responsibilities include designing and implementing tailored BBS programs to promote a Zero-Harm culture across operations and expansion projects.

- Develop strategic safety documents and establish programs that foster proactive safety behaviors, catering to units with different safety maturity levels.

- Creating and delivering comprehensive training programs, workshops, and campaigns to enhance BBS awareness among employees is essential.

- Oversee the investigation of safety incidents and near-misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.

- Promote a strong safety culture, establish a Reward &Recognition mechanism for safe practices.

- Utilizing advanced digital tools, improve the efficiency of BBS initiatives.

- Monitoring safety performance, tracking metrics, and ensuring continuous improvement are key aspects of the role.

- Embed a safety-first mindset across Group's diverse operations, ensuring the wellbeing of all employees.

- Will engage with a diverse workforce to address the unique safety needs of various business units

- Implement a BBS application which allows employees to easily report safety observations, access training materials, and receive real-time updates on safety initiatives. Set a target of achieving a certain % increase in safety observations reporting and continuously monitor user engagement to identify areas for improvement and optimization.

- Establish a safety dashboard which summarizes safety performance metrics, highlighting progress on BBS initiatives, and addressing any emerging safety concerns or focus areas.

Skills/Experience

- This is for the senior position requiring 15+ years of experience.

- BE Degree along with PG Diploma in Industrial Safety, Advance diploma in Industrial Safety

- Experience pf engaging with Think Tanks, Institutes, and Consulting Organizations specializing in Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) models.

- Exposure to cutting-edge research, best practices, and innovative safety management approaches.

- Expertise in BBS implementation, enabling the development of effective safety programs.

- Experience of Setting up & enhancing internal safety practices,
