Job Description:

Purdrop Biochem is seeking an Agricultural Expert to lead the agricultural initiatives for biogas projects, specifically focusing on the cultivation of Napier grass as a feedstock. This position aims to maximize yield and ensure quality parameters meet the requirements for biogas production. The successful candidate will coordinate with agricultural laborers, maintain records of production and quality, and oversee all aspects of contract farming.

Job Objectives:

- To enhance the productivity and quality of Napier grass for biogas production through effective management and innovative agricultural practices.

- To ensure the successful execution of contract farming agreements with local farmers, leading to a sustainable supply chain for biogas feedstock.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Napier Grass Production Management:

- Take charge of the cultivation of Napier grass to achieve maximum yield as fresh biomass while adhering to quality parameters essential for biogas production.

- Monitor biomass composition, nutrient content, moisture levels, volatile solids, pH, and organic matter content to ensure optimal conditions for anaerobic digestion.

- Maintain accurate records of all production metrics, quality parameters, and labour activities related to Napier grass farming.

2. Pre-Feasibility Study:

- Evaluate the technical and economic viability of biogas projects involving Napier grass, assessing agricultural practices, feedstock sources, and identifying potential challenges and risks.

- Estimate energy output and environmental benefits associated with the use of Napier grass in biogas production.

3. Feasibility Report:

- Prepare detailed feasibility reports that include technical specifications, cost estimates, and an analysis of financial viability and return on investment.

- Evaluate regulatory frameworks and recommend strategies to optimize project performance while mitigating risks.

- Present feasibility reports to stakeholders and monitor the implementation of recommendations to ensure project success.

4. Contract Farming Coordination:

- Develop and manage contract farming agreements with local farmers for cultivating Napier grass, ensuring a consistent and reliable feedstock supply for biogas plants.

- Coordinate and supervise agricultural labourers to ensure best practices in Napier grass cultivation are followed.

- Provide technical support to farmers regarding agronomic practices, pest management, and soil health to enhance productivity and sustainability.

5. Stakeholder Engagement:

- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including farmers, agricultural labourers, and project teams, to secure support for biogas projects.

- Facilitate communication and coordination among all parties involved to ensure smooth project execution and adherence to timelines.

6. Raw Material Procurement and Napier Grass Production:

- Oversee the procurement of raw materials necessary for biogas production, ensuring the timely availability of quality inputs for Napier grass cultivation.

- Coordinate with internal stakeholders of the biogas plant to align production schedules and procurement processes, ensuring a seamless supply chain from cultivation to biogas processing.

- Monitor and evaluate the quality of Napier grass as a feedstock for biogas production, ensuring it meets the required standards and specifications.

Qualifications:

Academic Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in Agriculture (B.Sc. in Agri), Agronomy (B.Sc. in Agronomy), (BRS in Agronomy) Horticulture, or a related field.

Work Experience:

- 5-8 years of experience in agricultural project management, preferably in biogas production or renewable energy sectors.

- Strong knowledge of Napier grass cultivation, quality assessment parameters for biogas production, and agricultural best practices.

Core Competencies:

- Excellent communication, negotiation, and coordination skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and agricultural management software.

- Project management experience with a focus on agricultural operations and sustainable practices.

Immediate joiners residing in Gandhinagar / Ahmedabad are preferred.
