Project Engineer GIS with Computer Vision

Education:

Bachelor's or Masters degrees in Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, and Geology.

Required Skills:

• Strong experience in working with satellite datasets
• Familiarity with tools such as Mapbox API, QGIS, and other GIS-related software.
• Familiar with working in Google Earth Engine
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate them into actionable insights.
• Excellent Written and Oral communication skills.
• Respect for deadlines

Position Overview:

• Perform any GIS tasks allocated as per project requirements like., digitisation, editing, and spatial data analysis.
• Capture the ground truth information based on the plans and digital sources provided and perform various analysis on satellite data. Capturing the Map and other related data into GIS software to enable an accurate calculation of the area for all the features.
• Perform various image processing techniques like image classification, and GIS analysis to bring out meaningful information and results as per the project requirements.
• Create and maintain the database necessary for GIS data storage.
• Bachelor's Masters in geomatics, remote sensing and GIS, agriculture, geography, earth science, or related field?
• Experience in the Agriculture field is preferable.
• GIS and remote sensing software expertise, GIS data collection, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, be able to create well-written and detailed reports.
• Working in QA/QC tools Creating the Quality data by following project standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leverage your GIS expertise to monitor maps and visualize complex data through interactive maps using Mapbox API or other similar tools for various projects, including agroforestry and carbon credit monitoring.
• Land Use and Land Cover Classification
• Apply your skills in remote sensing to collect, analyze, and interpret satellite imagery for real-time tracking of agroforestry activities.
• Perform analysis to uncover insights related to soil quality, irrigation status, crop condition, species identification, and more.
• Utilize tools like Mapbox API, QGIS, and other GIS software to create interactive and user-friendly map-based portals.
• You must be willing to travel to various field locations if needed.
• Maintains data integrity and accuracy.
• Communicate findings and insights through compelling visual presentations and reports.

Work Location: Walmart Centre for Tech Excellence, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Pay will be Rs 21,500/- to Rs 75,000 /- Per month.
