M. Pharm Teacher

Job Summary :

The M. Pharm Teacher is responsible for educating graduate-level pharmacy students by teaching specialized subjects related to pharmacy, conducting research, mentoring students, and contributing to the development of the academic curriculum. The teacher should promote a deep understanding of pharmaceutical sciences, drug development, patient care, and pharmacy practice. The role includes classroom instruction, practical lab supervision, student assessment, and staying updated with the latest advancements in the pharmaceutical field.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Teaching & Curriculum Development :

   • Deliver lectures, seminars, and practical sessions on various subjects within the M. Pharm curriculum (e.g., Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy, Clinical Pharmacy, Drug Regulatory Affairs).
   • Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and teaching resources to reflect current trends and advancements in the pharmaceutical sciences.
   • Teach both theoretical concepts and practical applications in the field of pharmacy, including case studies, clinical simulations, and research projects.
   • Design and conduct laboratory sessions for students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts.

2. Student Assessment & Mentorship :

   • Evaluate and grade student assignments, quizzes, exams, and research projects in accordance with university grading policies.
   • Provide constructive feedback to students to enhance their understanding and academic performance.
   • Offer academic support and mentoring, helping students with their research projects, career guidance, and professional development.
   • Hold office hours to provide individual support to students and address their queries related to coursework.

3. Research & Scholarly Activities :

   • Conduct independent and collaborative research in the field of pharmaceutical sciences and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
   • Participate in research conferences, workshops, and seminars to present findings and stay current with new developments in the field.
   • Encourage students to engage in research and guide them through the process of conducting original research, from hypothesis formation to publication.

4. Professional Development :

   • Stay updated with the latest trends, innovations, and regulatory changes in the pharmaceutical industry and incorporate them into teaching practices.
   • Participate in workshops, seminars, and conferences to continuously improve teaching skills and subject matter expertise.
   • Collaborate with industry professionals, government agencies, and academic peers to enhance the teaching-learning experience and foster partnerships.

5. Administrative Responsibilities :

   • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
   • Assist in departmental activities, such as curriculum planning, faculty meetings, and student events.
   • Participate in university-level committees, departmental planning, and the development of educational strategies.

6. Industry & Community Engagement :

   • Foster strong relationships with local pharmaceutical industries, regulatory bodies, and health organizations.
   • Engage in community outreach programs, public awareness campaigns, and professional development opportunities in the pharmaceutical field.
   • Organize and participate in continuing education programs, workshops, or seminars for pharmacy professionals.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

• Education : Master’s degree in Pharmacy (M. Pharm) or a related field. A Ph.D. in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences is often preferred for higher academic positions.
• Experience : Proven experience in teaching pharmacy students at the graduate level (M. Pharm), or experience in clinical or industry practice with a desire to teach.
• Knowledge : Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences, including pharmacology, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, and clinical pharmacy practices.
• Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively teach, present, and interact with students and colleagues.
• Research Skills : Demonstrated research experience and a record of publications in reputable scientific journals.
• Mentoring : Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills to guide students academically and professionally.
• Organization : Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple tasks, students, and administrative responsibilities.

Preferred Skills :

• Industry Experience : Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry or healthcare settings, such as hospitals, drug manufacturing, or regulatory bodies.
• Technology : Familiarity with e-learning platforms and online education tools for delivering lectures and engaging students.
• Language Proficiency : Fluency in English or additional languages, depending on the institution’s requirements and student base.
