Principal Engineer - Public Health

Role Summary

The production of PHE design services predominantly for Railway Stations and other Railway Buildings, working individually or as part of a team. Oversee day-to-day teams' operation and performance. Principal Engineer plays extremely important role in motivating a team and ensuring their success. Communicating company goals, safety practices, and deadlines with designated teams. Involved with the planning and forecasting of budgets and timelines to assure that the project is accurately completed to schedule.

Responsibilities

• Design of PHE systems design at Railway Stations through all design stages from concept to detailed design.
• Prepare user requirements, technical specifications, design specifications and commissioning plans.
• Provide technical guidance in planning and executing assigned projects.
• Supervise and verify the work performed by the designers/ modeller to meet the requirements of the project.
• Liaise with UK lead office to Estimate the budget and time associated with the projects within the area of expertise.
• Ensure the compatibility of the PHE discipline with other disciplines involved in the projects.
• Create a health and motivating work environment and atmosphere.
• Develop a well designed and motivating evaluation program.
• Responsible for overseeing all activities within a team. Manage a team and manage employee development, employee appraisal, and staff development etc.
• Identify team goals, evaluate team progress and resolve conflict.

Qualifications/ Technical Experience (e.g. Areas, Software)

• Bachelor’s/master’s degree in mechanical /civil engineering.
• Experience of 12-18 years’ of working with MEP – PHE design.
• Qualifications meeting the requirements for Chartership with a UK Engineering Institution.
• The applicant shall have proven experience in the PHE design of Railway Station Building Services with significant experience in a similar role or demonstration of a good track record.
• Design & selections for hot water heating systems: Point of Use Electric, Centralized boiler/Calorifier & Air source heat pump (ASHP) systems.
• Heat tracing design for Exposed cold and hot water distribution based on UK standards & regulations.
• Foul Drainage Flow & Pipe sizing, Grease, Oil and Lint interceptor design based on system requirements.
• Sewage Lift station, Dewatering, Basement sump pumps & Lift sump pump sizing and capacity as per applicable codes and standards.
• Basement open channel drain sizing &Roof Rainwater Gutter Sizing Design. 
• Septic tank sizing, Soak pit
• Rainwater system design and pipe sizing calculations based on applicable codes and Standards
• Conventional system and Siphonic System based on Client requirements.
• Codes and standards Applicable standards based on above listed: NFPA, UAE, NFPA, Indian & BS.
• Fire Detection and Alarm System based on NFPA72, UAE and NBC codes.
• Strong Knowledge on Design, QC Check and reviewing the above public health and Fire protection system services.
• Capable to do Multidisciplinary coordinate check, attend client meeting, Client comment/RFI responses in all stages of design.
• Having experience on Fire Protection design in all Stages (Concept, Schematic, Detailed, Shop, as built and GFC stages) and preparation of Design report.
• Excellent working knowledge of NBC, BS, NFPA and other local codes and good working knowledge of UK codes would be advantageous
• The applicant should have design experience of UK Projects
• Carryout preparation of technical submittals.
• Must have knowledge on software’s like AutoCAD, MEP Revit, MicroStation & other drafting software’s.
• Extensive experience of working within a rail station environment and good working knowledge of Network Rail, TfL & LUL standards.
• Experience of contributing to the PHE design on multidisciplinary projects and knowledge of rail design assurance processes.
• Good knowledge and understanding of the requirements necessary to develop and progress projects through the early stages of the lifecycle – LUL, GRIP and RIBA.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Skills

• A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project is essential
• Must be fluent in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.
