Primus Global - Alation Developer - Data Catalogue (2-8 yrs)

Key Responsibilities :

Data Catalog Development :

- Design and implement data catalog solutions using Alation.

- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries, and metadata repositories.

- Configure data source connections and automate metadata extraction processes.

Metadata Management :

- Implement and manage metadata governance processes.

- Ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy across the data catalog.

- Develop and enforce metadata standards and best practices.

Data Governance :

- Collaborate with data stewards and data owners to define and enforce data governance policies.

- Implement data lineage, data classification, and data stewardship workflows.

- Monitor and report on data governance metrics and compliance.

Integration and Automation :

- Integrate Alation with various data sources, ETL processes, and BI tools.

- Automate data catalog updates and synchronization with data sources.

- Develop scripts and APIs for custom integrations and enhancements.

User Support and Training :

- Provide support to business users and data analysts in using the Alation data catalog.

- Develop and deliver training materials and sessions for end-users.

- Assist users in discovering and understanding data assets within the catalog.

Documentation and Reporting :

- Document data catalog configurations, processes, and workflows.

- Create and maintain user guides, technical documentation, and training materials.

- Generate reports and dashboards to provide insights into data catalog usage and governance.

Qualifications :

Education :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field.

Experience :

- Proven experience as an Alation Developer or in a similar role working with data cataloging tools.

- Hands-on experience with Alation or similar data cataloging and metadata management tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Data.world).

- Strong understanding of data management, data governance, and metadata management principles.

- Experience with SQL and data integration techniques.

Skills :

- Proficiency in configuring and managing data catalog solutions.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

- Excellent communication and documentation skills.

- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) and API integration is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with data visualization and BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.

- Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

- Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
