Battery Electrical Engineer

Job Purpose (Significance of the role Objectives)

The Electrical Engineer at Pravaig is responsible for the design, development, and execution of core battery electrical system components and assemblies. The individual will be responsible for defining, documenting, and designing battery pack and battery module bussing and wiring components and overseeing the validation of those components and assemblies. An effective candidate is comfortable applying technical knowledge to innovative designs, driving the resolution of challenges, and taking ownership of new product development activities.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

• Technical ownership and delivery of electrical and electronics design through the entire development cycle.
• Provide engineering support for the development of electronic hardware systems including system integration.
• Support prototype and engineering build during the development phase.
• Highly experienced in contactor control, pre-charge, EMI, EMC, electrical power distribution, electrical interference, high-voltage junction boxes, and functional safety.
• Component definition, sizing, selection, and design of cell electrical interconnections bussing, module and pack high current and high voltage electrical interconnections bussing, fusing, sensing, and control circuitry.
• Work with vendors to develop custom components to meet design development requirements.
• Work with the mechanical engineering team to develop battery modules and protection control systems.
• Support the final assembly site to ensure proper integration of the battery into the final system.
• Rigorous failure analysis, root cause analysis, corrective action, and communication to the cross-functional internal stack holders on issues.
• Ability to improve the high-voltage and high-power battery pack electrical and electronics architecture.
• Ensure successful integration with the other subsystems within the drivetrain.
• Act as a mentor and advisor to Design Release Engineers (DREs) on the team.

Desired Qualifications: Required Qualification, Knowledge, and Experience

• Strong electrical and electronics fundamentals.
• Experience in safe implementation and selection of high-current carrying cables and high-voltage cables and busbars.
• Experience and capabilities for DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA and DFA.
• Basic understanding CAD tool skills such as SOLIDWORK or UG NX and the Ability to learn and adapt to new tools.
• Strong leadership skills and proactive behavior.
• Bachelor s or master s degree in electrical engineering.
• Familiarity developing a product from concept to production.
• Micro-controller hardware implementation including mixed signal circuit design and sensor integration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical tests (EMC, fuse time/current characteristics, fuse coordination, electrical component durability) and equipment preferred.
• Should have prior experience in HV EV charging systems.
