Cognos BI Developer

We are seeking a highly skilled Cognos BI Developer with 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, and optimizing IBM Cognos Analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in Business Intelligence (BI) reporting , dashboard development , data modeling , and integrating Cognos with enterprise data sources to create data-driven solutions that empower decision-making across the organization.

As a Cognos BI Developer, you will be responsible for transforming business requirements into insightful reports and interactive dashboards , ensuring the delivery of high-quality, reliable, and efficient BI solutions that meet both technical and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Cognos Analytics solutions (Report Studio, Framework Manager, Query Studio, Active Reports).
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytical requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Develop and implement data models , metadata layers , and reporting frameworks using Cognos Framework Manager .
• Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database performance to improve report speed and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Cognos reports and performance tuning .
• Ensure the seamless integration of Cognos with enterprise databases (e. g. , Oracle , SQL Server , DB2 , PostgreSQL ) and other data sources.
• Implement and manage Cognos security models , including user authentication , role-based access control , and data security .
• Conduct unit testing, data validation, and troubleshooting to ensure the accuracy and reliability of reports.
• Participate in the ETL processes and contribute to the understanding and management of data warehousing concepts .

Key Requirements:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Cognos BI development and administration .
• Strong proficiency in IBM Cognos Analytics , including Report Studio , Framework Manager , Query Studio , and Active Reports .
• Expertise in data modeling , metadata modeling , and working with relational and multidimensional databases .
• Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization, stored procedures, and database performance tuning.
• Experience with ETL processes , data warehousing , and integrating Cognos solutions with various data sources.
• Deep understanding of Cognos security models , user access control, and authentication methods.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize Cognos reports for enhanced performance.
• Familiarity with enterprise-level databases, including Oracle , SQL Server , DB2 , PostgreSQL , etc.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills , with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills , with the ability to work effectively with both business users and technical teams.
