API Engineer - API

As an API Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain APIs that enable seamless integration and functionality across our systems and applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions that enhance our technological capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

API Design & Development: Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure APIs. Ensure APIs meet performance, security, and reliability standards.

Integration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to integrate APIs with various platforms and services. Ensure smooth data flow and interoperability between systems.

Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation, including usage guidelines, reference materials, and developer guides to facilitate ease of use and integration.

Testing & Quality Assurance: Implement and manage automated testing for API endpoints. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, bugs, and other issues to ensure a high-quality product.

Monitoring & Support: Monitor API performance and usage. Provide support and troubleshoot issues reported by clients or internal teams. Implement improvements based on feedback and performance metrics.

Collaboration: Work with product managers, software engineers, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into API solutions. Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing.

Security & Compliance: Ensure APIs are designed and implemented with security best practices. Stay updated on industry standards and regulatory requirements related to API development.

Qualifications:

Experience: Proven experience as an API Engineer or similar role, with a strong portfolio of API projects. Familiarity with RESTful and GraphQL API design principles.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, or Ruby. Experience with API frameworks and tools (e.g., Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, GraphQL).

Knowledge: Solid understanding of web services, authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT), and API security best practices. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and find effective solutions.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with API gateway tools and services.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and serverless computing.
• Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
