Pattern Shop Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

Pattern Shop Operations Management:

Plan, organize, and oversee daily activities in the pattern shop to ensure efficiency.

Allocate work to pattern makers, finishers, and other staff.

Pattern Maintenance and Storage:

Ensure proper maintenance, repair, and modification of patterns

Maintain an organized and systematic storage system for patterns, ensuring easy identification.

Quality Control:

Inspect patterns for dimensional accuracy and surface finish to meet drawing specifications and quality standards.

Coordinate with the quality control team to resolve any non-conformance issues related to patterns.

Material and Inventory Management:

Monitor inventory levels of pattern materials like wood, resin, metal, and tools.

Coordinate with procurement for timely restocking of materials and tools.

Team Management:

Supervise and train pattern shop personnel to improve their skills and productivity.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of pattern usage, modifications, and repairs.

Prepare and submit regular reports on pattern shop activities, including productivity, issues, and suggestions for improvement.

Experience:

2+ years of experience in a foundry, with at least 1 years in a supervisory or managerial role in a pattern shop.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and CAD designs.

Knowledge of various pattern materials and manufacturing techniques.

Familiarity with foundry processes.

Basic knowledge of riser, gating, and feeder design

Expertise in applying allowances for shrinkage, machining, and distortion during pattern-making and maintenance.
