Role & responsibilities

  • High proficiency in CAT 35 ITX fares, preferably within a tour operator or airline ticketing environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Galileo Global Distribution System (GDS).
  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex information both verbally and in writing, clearly and concisely.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • A methodical approach to managing and completing workload efficiently.
  • A strong drive to reduce errors and enhance process efficiencies.
  • Familiarity with IATA ticketing rules under UK BSP.
  • Experience and understanding of travel or tour operator business.

Ticketing Responsibilities

  • Handle all processes related to airline ticketing.
  • Issue CAT 35/25 fares, manual fare builds, allocation fares, and group fares (minimal volume).
  • Ensure timely management of group and allocation contracts with airlines, including name/ balance tracking and ticket issuance, as well as processing refund EMDs for group deposits.
  • Manage re-issues, refunds, and revalidations.
  • Process MCO/EMD/(V)MPD for deposits, seat reservations, excess baggage, and other relevant services.
  • Maintain accurate records of all ticketing activities in the internal system.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company ticketing policies.
  • Monitor and action GDS queues promptly.
  • Track schedule changes and cancellations, updating internal systems as necessary and communicating with relevant business units.

Business Support Responsibilities

  • As part of a team of in-house GDS experts, provide a helpdesk function to Sales, Sales Operations, and Customer Services teams for fare calculations, upgrades, and complex itineraries as needed.
  • Optimize potential profits in bookings, advising and correcting bookings while ensuring that pre-allocated seating, meals, and other OSI/SSR requests are not impacted. Maintain a detailed log of savings made (template provided).
  • Assist with fare filing through CAT 35/25 and provide historical fare calculations, rules, and regulations set by airlines.
  • Liaise with airlines to resolve errors and incorrect names, following company policy. Ensure a detailed log of name changes is maintained (template provided).
  • Stay up-to-date with IATA updates and ensure compliance.
  • Investigate and challenge ADMs/ACMs when appropriate. Update internal systems as required.
  • Continuously develop and enhance product knowledge of airlines and services through appropriate training sessions (virtual).
  • Perform quality control checks on all bookings confirmed in the internal system.
  • Assist with general administration of ticketing reports, costs, and other related tasks, ensuring the information in the internal systems is accurate and up-to-date.

Team Responsibilities

  • Work effectively as a team member to prioritize and complete departmental tasks efficiently.
  • Provide support for team members in the event of holiday/sickness absences, specifically for BSP tasks.
  • Perform additional administrative duties and reporting tasks as required to support the needs of the business.
  • Cover Saturday shifts on a rotating basis.
  • Be available for on-call support outside working hours, during bank holidays, and during the peak booking period in January/February, to assist with flight emergencies as required.

Desired profile of the candidate

  • The candidate must have strong expertise in CAT 35/25 ITX fares and Galileo GDS, excellent communication skills, and a keen attention to detail. Experience with IATA ticketing rules and airline ticketing processes is essential. The ability to manage complex bookings, handle reissues, refunds, and ensure compliance with company policies is crucial.
