Key Responsibilities :
API Integration Design & Implementation :
- Review third-party ISV APIs and provide design recommendations for visual integration components tailored to business use cases.
- Ensure all integration components adhere to Okta's best practices, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and resilient.
- Conduct feasibility assessments for various enterprise API integrations (REST/SOAP/GraphQL), providing input on the most suitable approaches.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to understand integration requirements and deliver high-performance components.
Collaboration & Process Improvement :
- Work closely with product management and leadership to conceptualize, design, and implement sustainable integration processes.
- Partner with technical writers to produce high-quality customer-facing and developer-facing documentation, ensuring all workflows are easy to implement and understand.
- Provide support and guidance to other team members when integrating new API solutions or facing technical challenges.
Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement :
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues with API integrations, identifying the root cause of problems and providing effective solutions.
- Ensure the delivery of a seamless and secure user experience by reviewing and improving integration components regularly.
- Stay up-to-date with evolving technologies and best practices related to API integrations, workflow automation, and security standards.
User Experience & Component Design :
- Design elegant user interfaces that enable customers to easily create, customize, and deploy their own mission-critical workflows.
- Ensure that all components designed for customer use are intuitive, secure, and provide high performance under heavy production loads.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- 1+ year of experience in API integration (REST, SOAP, GraphQL).
- Basic understanding of server-side programming principles (e.g, APIs, HTTP, databases, caching, webhooks, cryptography, authentication, and authorization).
- Knowledge of API security best practices and the ability to apply them in real-world integrations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to document and explain technical details effectively.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to look beyond the surface and identify underlying issues.
- Proven ability to review and assess third-party API documentation and determine feasibility for integration.
- Ability to work well within a collaborative team environment, balancing independent work and team support.
- Strong organizational skills, with a focus on detail and documentation.
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for continuous learning and staying up-to-date with industry trends.
Nice to Have :
- 3+ year of coding experience (e.g, JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#).
- Familiarity with authentication and authorization protocols and frameworks (e.g, OAuth/SAML, OIDC/JWT).
- Knowledge of secure authentication concepts such as SSO, federated identity management, multi-factor authentication, and digital certificates.
- Understanding of basic software engineering principles and design patterns (e.g, data structures, algorithms, component design).
- Experience with web interface design (e.g, HTML, CSS).
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Prior experience developing reusable software components for other developers or business users to leverage
