Postgresql DBA

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage, maintain, and monitor PostgreSQL databases across development, staging, and production environments.
• Conduct database performance tuning and query optimization to ensure optimal system performance.
• Develop and implement database backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data availability and reliability.
• Manage user roles, access privileges, and database security policies to safeguard data.
• Configure and maintain database replication and clustering for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Perform version upgrades, apply patches, and handle database migrations with minimal downtime.
• Use monitoring tools to identify and resolve database performance issues proactively.
• Automate routine DBA tasks such as backups, monitoring, and reporting for efficient operations.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of database configurations, policies, and procedures.
• Work closely with development, operations, and business teams to address database-related needs.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 8-12 years of experience in SQL Database Administration, with at least 4+ years exclusively in PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in managing large-scale PostgreSQL databases, including database design, performance tuning, and optimization.
• Strong expertise in database backup, recovery, and restoration processes.
• Hands-on experience with replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL tools, extensions (e.g., PostGIS, TimescaleDB), and advanced features.
• Solid understanding of database security best practices and access management.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as pgAdmin, Nagios, or Zabbix.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python) for automation.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in high-pressure scenarios.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS RDS for PostgreSQL, Azure Database, or GCP).
• Knowledge of other database systems (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server) is a plus.
• Certifications in PostgreSQL or related areas are an advantage.
