Functional Safety Engineer - Battery Management Systems (BMS)

Safety Analysis and Risk Assessment :

• Conduct safety assessments, hazard analysis, and risk assessments (eg, FMEA, FTA) for BMS projects.
• Identify potential safety risks and define appropriate mitigation strategies.

Safety Requirements and Design :

• Develop and maintain safety requirements and ensure they are integrated into the BMS design process.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that safety principles are applied throughout the product lifecycle.

Compliance and Standards :

• Ensure compliance with relevant functional safety standards (eg, ISO 26262) and regulations.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in functional safety standards and best practices.

Validation and Verification :

• Define and execute safety validation and verification plans, including safety testing and analysis.
• Ensure that all safety-related deliverables meet the required quality and compliance standards.

Documentation and Reporting :

• Prepare and maintain detailed safety documentation, including safety plans, safety case reports, and safety analysis reports.
• Communicate safety-related information effectively to stakeholders, including management and engineering teams.

Education :

• bachelors or masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.

Experience :

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in functional safety engineering, with at least 3 years specifically focused on Battery Management Systems (BMS).
• Proven track record of working on safety-critical systems in the automotive, energy storage, or related industries.

Technical Skills :

• In-depth knowledge of functional safety standards such as ISO 26262, UL 1998.
• Proficiency in safety analysis techniques (eg, FMEA, FTA, HAZOP).
• Experience with safety validation and verification methods.
• Strong understanding of BMS architecture, components, and safety mechanisms.
