What youll do
In your new role, you ll engineer and maintain innovative, customer centric, high performance, secure and robust solutions.
You ll be working within a feature team and using your extensive experience to engineer software, scripts and tools that are often complex, as well as liaising with other engineers, architects and business analysts across the platform.
You ll also be:
- Producing complex and critical software rapidly and of high quality which adds value to the business
- Working in permanent teams who are responsible for the full life cycle, from initial development, through enhancement and maintenance to replacement or decommissioning
- Collaborating to optimise our software engineering capability
- Designing, producing, testing and implementing our working code
- Working across the life cycle, from requirements analysis and design, through coding to testing, deployment and operations
The skills youll need
You ll need eight years experience in hands-on technical development and industry experience in a data engineering role or engineering equivalent with Quantexa platform. Youll also be able to configure and deploy Quantexa s software using tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Scala, Elasticsearch, with our platform being hosted on public virtual clouds, such as GCP and AWS.
You ll also need:
- Experience in building and deploying production level data processing batch systems maintained by application support teams. Importantly you ll share an appreciation of what makes a high quality, operationally stable system and how to streamline all areas of development, release, and operations to achieve this
- Experience in variety of modern development tooling e.g. Git, Gradle, Nexus and technologies supporting automation and DevOps e.g. Jenkins, Docker and a little bit of good old Bash scripting
- Experience of DevOps, Testing and Agile methodology and associated toolsets
- A background in solving highly complex, analytical and numerical problems
- Experience of implementing programming best practice, especially around scalability, automation, virtualisation, optimisation, availability and performance
