Assistant Engineer / Engineer - QC (Nagarjuna RMC)

Job Summary:

The RMC QC Engineer is responsible for maintaining the quality standards of the ready-mix concrete produced at the plant. This includes overseeing the testing, analysis, and control of concrete quality, ensuring compliance with project specifications and relevant standards, and coordinating with production teams to maintain a smooth and efficient quality assurance process.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Control and Testing:

• Conduct regular testing on raw materials (aggregates, cement, water, admixtures) and finished concrete to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Perform slump tests, compressive strength tests, and other concrete mix testing procedures.
• Prepare concrete mix designs and adjust them as required for different project requirements.
• Monitor the performance of concrete to ensure it meets the desired strength, workability, durability, and other relevant parameters.

Inspection and Monitoring:

• Inspect and monitor the manufacturing process of ready-mix concrete at the plant.
• Ensure the correct mixing of raw materials and adherence to set mix ratios.
• Monitor the storage conditions of materials and maintain records of test results and inspections.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain detailed records of quality control tests, inspections, and concrete production.
• Prepare and submit quality control reports to management and clients.
• Ensure all quality control processes are in compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ASTM, IS standards).

Coordination with Production and Site Teams:

• Collaborate with plant and site teams to ensure timely delivery of concrete that meets quality standards.
• Provide technical support to the production team in troubleshooting any quality issues during production.
• Assist in ensuring that the correct type of concrete mix is delivered to each project site based on requirements.

Compliance with Safety Standards:

• Adhere to safety protocols and environmental guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Conduct safety and environmental audits in the production area as needed.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify areas for improvement in the production and quality control process.
• Recommend and implement corrective actions for any non-conformities or defects.
• Stay updated on new technologies, standards, and industry practices related to concrete production and quality control.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Material Science, or related field.
• Experience: Previous experience (typically 26 years) in quality control or production in the concrete industry or construction.
• Skills:
• Strong knowledge of concrete testing methods and quality standards.
• Familiarity with concrete mix design and material specifications.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to identify problems and implement effective solutions.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and experience with laboratory equipment for testing.

Work Environment:

• The job typically takes place in a ready-mix concrete plant and on construction sites.
• The work may involve some outdoor tasks and inspections in varying weather conditions.
• The role may involve shift work depending on plant operations.
