Job Description
- This role is part of MUFG Retirement Solutions core platforms where we are looking for a Senior VB/ VB .Net developer who can design, implement, and support functional changes, as part of a project, core development or platform support.
- This is a hands-on role requiring in-depth knowledge in C# development, project experience and project life cycle.
- This role will focus on developing a procedural language, being CTL (Capital Translator Language), which is internal to MUFG Retirement Solutions New Zealand market applications.
Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities
Strategic Focus
- Analyse and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Develop & maintain an application program which involves designing, coding, and unit testing business code in the new architecture.
- Migrating existing functionality from the existing codebase to the new architecture
- (CTL is a bespoke in-house business-oriented development language. Training will be provided to the successful individual in this role)
Operational Management
- Design & develop high quality software applications, perform, unit testing and installation of application programs.
- Participate in Peer Reviews for code and unit tests prior to handover of the code.
- Document development diagrams/programs, code comments and other artifacts like release notes & technical specifications.
- Participate in day-to-day meetings, providing early escalation of issues and input into change management.
- Provide development support during the completion of QA testing.
- Adhere to programming standards, procedures, and methodologies.
People Leadership
- Provide technical guidance and support to other developers, including the mentoring of staff, as required.
Governance & Risk
- Ensure timely completion of activities by adhering with the agreed processes & quality standards.
- Individual should adhere to system design best practices.
- Adhere to MUFG s standards, policies, and procedures.

Experience & Personal Attributes
Experience
- Overall, 7-10 years of programming experience.
- Minimum 7 years mainstream development experience in languages like Visual BASIC, VBA, VBScript, VB.net, C# would be advantageous.
- Strong SQL and low-level database skills along with debugging skills are required.
- Basic understanding of Development Methodologies like Waterfall, Agile.
- Experience in mentoring and coaching other team members

- Effective verbal and written communication skills, needed to communicate with global teams/stakeholders.
- Practical and simple problem-solving approach.
- Effective Team player with collaborative skills, learning and proactive attitude.
- Quality orientation with attention to detail.
