Job Description

Overview
The SQL Database Developer is to work within Data & Analytics team of developers in the delivery of current and emerging business requirements. You will bring your knowledge, expertise and work ethic in the fast-paced environment using Agile/Scrum methodology. This is a hands-on role requiring in-depth knowledge in SQL Server application development, project experience and project life cycle.

  • To assist with the development of new team standards, methodologies and processes to increase both the quality and efficiency of the development work
  • Responsibility to develop quick to market, high quality IT solutions within an agile environment
  • This will require full project exposure from start up to completion
  • Extremely adaptable and quick to pick up new business concepts within a unique business environment
  • Engage proactively with stakeholders and other cross-functional team members in the development of IT solutions
  • Work within a team of developers assisting in: 1. time estimates 2. task allocations 3. problem solving.
  • Work on development, testing feedback, review, build and deliver of project work.
  • Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements
  • Support Link Group assurance programs that deliver effective risk management and compliance practices
People Leadership
  • Exceptional executionary skills and capability - Enthusiastic, engaging and inspiring
  • Proven experience of successfully delivering high quality solutions in high pressure, structured environments using standard project management techniques and disciplines
  • Continuous improvement focus, with the ability to identify risk, cost efficiencies and business improvements;
  • Ability to liaise with senior level stakeholder representatives in a rational and measured manner to communicate project progress, issues, risks and solutions
  • Ability to control meetings and ensure the attendees are focussed on achieving the predefined objectives
Governance & Risk
  • Define performance measures that will determine the effectiveness of implemented strategies and identify areas for strategic improvement
  • Liaise with business executives and stakeholders in order to evaluate overall performance against targets and make necessary adjustments.
  • Responsible for identification and redesigning of critical business processes to support exponential growth
  • Responsible for driving business excellence agenda, conceptualize framework for business excellence model, develop benefit measurement matrix and scorecard management
  • Support in Integrating vision and strategy to deliver improving and predictable business results
  • Prompt identification of issues, potential red flags and problem solving to protect project schedules and budgets
  • Identifying and evaluating potential business process improvements as part of overall strategy with a view to enhance productivity and profitability
  • Strong presentation and excellent communication skills including written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and clients at all levels.
  • Degree-educated or relevant professional qualifications are desirable but not essential
  • Significant experience leading programs of work focusing on transformation efficiency
  • Excellent organisational skills - Can quickly and effectively mobilise both time and resources to get things done
  • A track record in and/or proven ability to work on the delivery of programs of works
Experience & Personal Attributes
  • B.E/MCA qualifications in Information Technology
  • 6-10 years of development experience with Microsoft SQL Server stack
  • Strong knowledge of Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Working experience ETL principals and techniques
  • A good understanding of data modelling and database schema design principals
  • Data normalization
  • Knowledge of database optimization techniques
  • Exceptional analytical skills in order to analyse and interpret business needs, and to provide constructive input into the development and technology solutions
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Visual Studio Team Systems Database Edition; SSDT
  • Team Foundation Server
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS
  • Knowledge in Banking and Financial Services will be added advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective inter-departmental and organisational relationships
  • Sound organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise conflicting tasks in order to meet strict deadlines
  • Self-motivated with a strong team spirit. Strong work ethic
