Neuro Technician

Preoperative Preparation: Prepare the operating room for neurosurgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and functioning properly. Set up specialized neurosurgical equipment, including microscopes, surgical drills, and stereotactic navigation systems.

Assistance During Surgery: Assist neurosurgeons and surgical team members during neurosurgical procedures, anticipating their needs and providing instruments, sutures, and other items as requested. Maintain sterile technique throughout the surgery, handling instruments and equipment according to established protocols.

Patient Positioning: Assist with patient positioning and draping, ensuring proper alignment and safety measures are followed to prevent injury during surgery. Secure surgical drapes and positioning devices to maintain a sterile field and provide optimal exposure for the surgical site.

Instrumentation and Equipment Management: Prepare and sterilize neurosurgical instruments and equipment, following standardized procedures and protocols. Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on surgical instruments and equipment, reporting any issues or malfunctions to appropriate personnel.

Surgical Assistance: Assist neurosurgeons in various aspects of neurosurgical procedures, including retracting tissues, suctioning blood and fluids, and applying hemostatic agents as directed. Monitor patient vital signs and communicate any changes or abnormalities to the surgical team.

Postoperative Care: Assist with wound closure and dressing application at the conclusion of neurosurgical procedures. Transfer patients safely to the recovery area, providing postoperative monitoring and support as needed. Assist with transporting patients to the intensive care unit (ICU) or other designated postoperative care areas.

Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures, instrument counts, and patient care activities in electronic medical records (EMR) or paper-based records. Ensure all required paperwork, consent forms, and surgical records are completed and filed appropriately.
