Operation Theatre Nurse

Staff Nurse - OT is responsible for providing nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operating theatre. The role involves working closely with the surgical team to ensure that patients receive the highest standard of care before, during, and after surgery. The Staff Nurse - OT is also responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment in the operating theatre and ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assessing patients' physical and emotional needs before surgery

- Preparing patients for surgery, including administering medication and ensuring that they are comfortable

- Assisting the surgical team during procedures, including handing instruments and monitoring patients' vital signs

- Administering medication and fluids as required during surgery

- Monitoring patients' recovery after surgery and providing appropriate care and support

- Maintaining accurate records of patients' care and progress

- Ensuring that the operating theatre is clean and well-maintained

- Ensuring that all equipment is in good working order and reporting any faults or issues to the appropriate person

- Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines, including those relating to infection control and health and safety

Qualifications and Experience:

- Registered Nurse with a valid nursing license

- Minimum of 2 years' experience in an operating theatre setting

- Knowledge of surgical procedures and equipment

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team

- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure

- Knowledge of infection control and health and safety procedures
