  • Before Relationships: Conducting due diligence investigations into the backgrounds and reputations of companies and their executives to ensure informed business decisions.
  • During Disputes: Identifying admissible evidence that supports law firms and in-house counsel in achieving favorable outcomes, whether in court or during negotiations.
  • After Frauds: Tracing events to uncover what happened, how it occurred, and who was responsible.

Role Overview and Responsibilities
The Mintz Group is seeking inquisitive, detail-oriented and highly motivated manager with strong research skills for its office in Mumbai. You will join a team of bright, curious and collaborative researchers who speak more than 30 languages in our offices across the world. As a manager, your responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Manage and execute a range of complex investigations, including due diligence, business intelligence, fraud investigations, and litigation support assignments.
  • Take primary responsibility for managing cases, including coordinating internal workflows, overseeing subcontractors, and engaging directly with clients. Collaborate with colleagues across offices globally and coordinate gathering information from networks of sources, specialists, and contacts across various sectors and geographies.
  • Act as a reliable investigator, capable of handling a wide range of investigative assignments, including intake from new and existing clients, occasionally during non-business hours.
  • Manage case budgets effectively, ensuring adherence to financial constraints, and obtain necessary approvals for any overages prior to client billing.
  • Draft and edit analytical, client-ready reports and deliver sophisticated written memos and oral briefings to clients, ensuring findings are thoroughly researched, clearly communicated, and actionable.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including hiring, billing, and expanding the firm's client base.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for junior and senior investigators, offering guidance, training, and addressing complex or challenging issues in real-time.
  • Oversee the accurate preparation and revision of client invoices, ensuring billing integrity and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in specific skills, practice areas, or industries, and becoming a go-to resource for specialized knowledge.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  • Undergraduate degree in fields such as journalism, political science, international relations, criminal justice, or forensic science from an accredited university; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • 3-4 years of experience in management or research within investigations, due diligence, risk management, business intelligence consulting, or journalism.
  • Proven ability to analyze, synthesize, and clearly communicate complex information in a concise and compelling manner.
  • Strong research skills with a creative and resourceful approach.
  • Excellent writing skills, with superior attention to detail and proficiency in English (both written and verbal).
  • Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet strict, overlapping deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel

Preferred

  • Proficiency in an additional language is highly desirable.
  • Experience with public records databases such as Westlaw, Nexis, or Accurint, as well as conducting open-source research.
