SUMMARY:
The Head - Liaison & Government Affairs will be responsible for managing relationships with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and industry associations to ensure compliance with regulations and drive favorable policies for the company. The role requires expertise in policy advocacy, regulatory affairs, and stakeholder engagement to support the business strategy and operations.
KRAs:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key government agencies, regulatory bodies, and public sector stakeholders.
- Ensure timely regulatory approvals and clearances for projects, expansions, and ongoing operations.
- Keep the management team informed of all relevant laws, regulations, and policy changes impacting the businesses
- Engage with policymakers, industry bodies (e.g., Ministry of Steel/Power/Commerce/Finance/Railways/Corporate Affairs/Petroleum/Heavy Industries/MSME/Coal/Mines, CII, FICCI, etc.), and trade associations to influence policy decisions in favor of the company's interests.
- Represent the company in industry forums, government meetings, and public policy discussions.
- Provide strategic inputs on regulatory changes, budgetary provisions, and government incentives affecting the sector.
- Develop and sustain high-level relationships with key decision-makers across state and central government levels.
- Act as the company's representative in public-private partnerships, regulatory negotiations, and investment promotion initiatives.
- Address any concerns raised by the government and regulatory bodies and ensure smooth communication.
- Monitor compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements to mitigate legal risks.
- Work closely with internal legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to government policies and industry norms.
- Prepare reports and briefing notes on regulatory developments, government policies, and their impact on business operations.
KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE:
- Proven experience of at least 15 years in government liaison, regulatory affairs, and policy advocacy within the steel, power, or heavy industry sectors.
- Strong network within central and state government departments, regulatory authorities, and industry bodies.
- Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, industrial policies, and government incentive schemes in India.
- Ability to analyze policy trends and provide strategic insights to senior management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in drafting policy papers, regulatory submissions, and government representations.
- Postgraduate degree in Public Policy, Law, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
