Job Description: Lighting Designer (Office Space) - Bangalore Location

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Lighting Designer to join our team, focusing on office space projects in Bangalore. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing innovative lighting solutions that enhance the functionality, aesthetics, and ambiance of commercial office environments. The designer will collaborate with architects, interior designers, engineers, and clients to ensure that the lighting design aligns with the overall vision and objectives of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lighting Design Conceptualization:
• Develop lighting concepts that complement the overall design of the office space while meeting functional, aesthetic, and sustainability requirements.
• Collaborate with clients and design teams to understand project goals, space usage, and desired atmosphere.
2. Lighting Planning and Specification:
• Prepare detailed lighting layouts, including fixture selections, power requirements, and placement plans.
• Specify and source appropriate lighting fixtures, ensuring compatibility with building systems and client preferences.
• Create lighting schedules, specifying the types of light fittings and control systems.
3. Technical Calculations and Simulations:
• Perform lighting calculations and simulations (e.g., lux levels, energy efficiency, glare control) to ensure compliance with standards and client needs.
• Utilize lighting design software such as Dialux, Relux, or other similar tools to simulate lighting effects.
4. Integration with Other Systems:
• Work closely with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure lighting systems are integrated with building systems, including power and controls.
• Coordinate with the team to integrate daylighting, natural light, and electrical systems for a balanced, energy-efficient design.
5. Project Management:
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, managing timelines, schedules, and resources effectively.
• Attend site visits to monitor and assess the implementation of lighting designs, making adjustments as needed.
• Liaise with contractors, vendors, and suppliers for procurement of lighting fixtures and materials.
6. Sustainability and Energy Efficiency:
• Promote energy-efficient lighting solutions that contribute to green building standards and sustainability goals.
• Stay updated with industry trends, energy regulations, and advancements in lighting technologies.
7. Client and Stakeholder Communication:
• Present design concepts and solutions to clients and stakeholders, addressing feedback and modifying designs accordingly.
• Provide technical support and guidance throughout the project, from design through installation and final adjustments.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in lighting design, particularly for office spaces or commercial interiors.
• Proficiency in lighting design software such as Dialux, Relux, AutoCAD, or Revit.
• Strong knowledge of lighting technology, including LED, controls, and energy-efficient systems.
• Familiarity with building codes, standards, and regulations related to lighting design.
• Strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly to clients and stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with sustainable design certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL Building Standard).
• Knowledge of smart lighting systems and building automation.
• Experience working with international clients and projects.
