We are chemical manufacturing company looking candidate for Manager Scale up, based at Mumbai.
Job Purpose:
Scale up team is a new entity established recently. Delivering the existing projects as well as future projects within the timeline with specified quality spec is prime importance. Strengthening the Scale up Team for future readiness is extremely critical. This job will support the R&D function in process development for new molecules and process enhancement for existing products with Projects engineering prospectus.
Role and Responsibilities
1) Generation of mass and energy balance data, PFD, P&ID, equipment specifications and other required data for input into the Technology Process document (TPD).
2) Mapping of developed process in existing plant assets and suggest required modifications in plant to achieve the goal of target production capacity and quality with required level of process and occupational safety along with environmental impact considerations.
3) Understand process safety and hazard data to arrive at an intrinsically safe process using required levels of controls as layer of protection.
4) Active participation in process HAZOP discussion, MOC and generation of technical document for project execution
5) Responsible for developing engineering data w.r.t agitator speed, Impeller selection, Impeller design validation, distillation patterns, heat of reactions etc., for the new technologies developed for good mass and heat transfer in the systems to achieve desired quality parameters.
6) Define, identify, and establish vendors for supplying equipment for kg scale in R & D and in scale up at plant.
7) Carry out equipment selection trials for continuous reactors systems, distillation, filtration, crystallization, drying etc. at Laboratory and kilo Level.
8) Review and update on engineering inputs for project progress on weekly basis along with chemistry teams to assure equipment requirements needed for corresponding scale up.
9) Detailing out instrument and equipment required in engineering lab with respect to process intensification and review the application to arrive at the cost viability.
10) Understand the analytical technique and interpretation of GC/ HPLC graphs.
Required Knowledge (of any equipment / Tools and techniques / Software)
Education & Experience
Education
Essential: B.E or B.Tech / M.E or M.Tech / Ph.D in Chemical engineering domain
Experience
Essential: 10-12 years with experience in scale-up projects
Preferred: 8-10 years of experience as Process engineer or Tech transfer engineer in Pilot plant
Competencies / Skills
Essential:
1) Complete knowledge and experience of technology transfer processes and scale up from lab to kilo lab to pilot plant and then to commercial plant.
2) Experience in basic process engineering documents preparation such as mass balance, energy balance, process flow diagrams (PFD), P&IDs.
3) Experience in preparation of scale-up reports with complete learning from scale-up campaign.
4) Experience in generation / calculation of engineering data for distillation, filtration, mixing, extraction etc.
5) Understanding of safety and hazard associated with the scale-up process.
6) Understanding of process safety reports and participation in safety elements such as HAZOP, HIRA, PSSR etc.
7) Should be a team player and team motivator and leader.
8) Understanding and implementation of PFDs, P&IDs and mass balance for the processes
9) Communication skill (written as well as spoken)
10) Planning, leadership, analytical, decision making, and people management skills.
11) Problem solving ability.
Preferred:
1) Must have worked on min 3 projects, scaling up from R&D to Pilot to/or commercial scale.
2) Experience in new product commissioning, experimentation and scale-up.
