Design Engineer - Wiring Harness

Role & responsibilities

• Checking the product requirements (specifications) of the customer (cable assemblies)

• Evaluating the possibility for mass production, advising the customer, proposing alternatives if necessary.

• Defining the necessary components, looking for alternatives if necessary

• Determining the processing operations and tools required. (Engineering Documents)

• Determining the cost price Implementation - •

• Instructing the production of sketches, BOM, drawings, processing operations, etc.

• Organising the components, tools and scheduling the production of samples.

• Instructing the production of samples, checking and testing these, and when samples are according to specifications release the samples

• Entering data in the computer systems (SAP) Other tasks -

• Maintaining the drawings of existing products

• Supporting the production sites in manufacture of released products.

• Advising customers on cable assemblies

• Participating in improvement projects

• Ensuring the products meets all customer and legal environmental requirements

Qualification & experience :

• Minimum 4 to 8 years of relevant years of experience into harness.

• Responsible for harness development and follow-up until sign off.

• Coordinate the entire project in terms of planning and execution through a project plan.

• Derive time plan and schedule for drawings and sample preparation, sample submission dates

• Responsible for pilot run, and communicating to technical team at customer

• Preparation of budget for tooling investment and material procurement required for building samples and first production orders.

• Develop and qualifying New tooling, testers, Boards to ensure product qualification.

• Coordinate with CFT to prepare samples and evaluate samples for acceptance

• Initiate and track ECN/ECRs

• Responsible for team reviews to ensure projects are developed smoothly and obtain CFT support

• FAI reports on new/refurbished tooling for existing products

• Review and update drawings and specifications to Work Manager and implement changes sought in customer drawings
