Job Description
Job Summary : A Senior TBM Surveyor with extensive knowledge in Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) surveying is required to oversee and execute precise survey tasks for tunnel boring machine (TBM) projects. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in tunnel surveying, specifically in the operation and integration of DGPS technology to ensure accurate alignment and positioning of TBMs.
Key Responsibilities :
- Surveying and Measurement :
- Conduct and supervise all survey tasks related to TBM projects, ensuring the highest level of precision.
- Use DGPS and other advanced surveying technologies to perform accurate measurements and alignments.
- Verify and calibrate survey instruments to ensure accurate data collection.
- Project Planning and Execution :
- Develop detailed survey plans and methodologies tailored to the specific requirements of TBM projects.
- Monitor and control survey activities to ensure adherence to project timelines and specifications.
- Coordinate with the project management team to integrate survey data into overall project plans.
- Data Analysis and Reporting :
- Analyze survey data to ensure it meets project standards and specifications.
- Prepare detailed survey reports, including maps, diagrams, and other documentation as required.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the survey team, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
- Team Leadership and Training :
- Lead a team of surveyors, providing mentorship and training on the use of DGPS and other survey technologies.
- Ensure team members are proficient in the latest surveying techniques and safety protocols.
- Evaluate team performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance :
- Ensure all surveying activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to guarantee the accuracy of survey data.
- Conduct regular audits of survey processes to identify and rectify any discrepancies.
- Technical Support :
- Provide technical support for the installation, operation, and maintenance of TBMs.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving any survey-related issues that may arise during TBM operations.
- Collaborate with engineers and other technical staff to optimize TBM performance and accuracy.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in surveying, with a strong focus on TBM projects and DGPS technology.
- Proficient in using DGPS, total stations, and other advanced surveying equipment.
- Strong knowledge of TBM operations and tunneling methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Proficient in using survey software and CAD applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in challenging environments and under tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills :
- Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) technology.
- Knowledge of other tunneling methods such as NATM.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in tunneling projects.
