The course emphasizes the importance of equity, justice, and indigenous knowledge systems in the discourse on sustainability.Throughout the 11 weeks, students will engage with key sustainability concepts such as planetary boundaries, sustainable development, climate change, resource management, and biodiversity conservation. Particular attention will be given to the social dimensions of sustainability, including poverty, gender inequality, and community resilience in the face of environmental crises. The course also explores policy frameworks and practical strategies to address sustainability challenges, drawing on examples from India and other developing countries. Candidate profile PhD in sciences or social science disciplines with relevance to sustainability studies. Candidates with MSc degrees with demonstrable expertise in the subject will be considered.
