Senior Quality Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quality Engineer specializing in quality assurance, non-destructive testing (NDT), and manufacturing processes for heavy engineering components. This role requires expertise in NDT techniques, machine shop operations, and quality control functions, with a strong focus on continuous improvement. The candidate will manage quality audits, evaluate suppliers, implement corrective actions, and develop innovative solutions to enhance quality standards within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• NDT Inspections: Perform and interpret NDT Level 2 inspections in Visual Testing (VT), Dye Penetrant Testing (DT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT).
• Machine Shop & Heavy Engineering Components: Demonstrate proficiency in handling machine shop operations and heavy engineering components, ensuring the components meet high-quality standards.
• Quality Control & Assurance: Apply advanced quality control and quality assurance techniques to ensure the reliability and consistency of manufacturing processes.
• Machining Outputs: Handle heavy machining outputs from CNC, VMC, and HMC machines, ensuring proper quality management throughout the process.
• Supplier Evaluation: Prepare and maintain audit sheets for suppliers, systematically evaluate them, and work to enhance their Supplier Quality Rating through continuous feedback and improvement.
• Audit Planning: Develop comprehensive audit plans for process audits, product audits, and product quality improvements, and evaluate their effectiveness in improving overall quality standards.
• Team Management: Utilize managerial skills to allocate daily/weekly work assignments to subordinates, while fostering skill development and improving team performance.
• Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions: Investigate and analyze the root causes of rejection for casting bought-out parts and implement corrective and preventive actions to mitigate future quality issues.
• IMS & Internal Audits: Oversee IMS requirements and internal audit plans, coordinate with certifying agencies, and facilitate Management Review Meetings (MRM) to ensure compliance and continuous quality improvement.
• Quality Objectives Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate the company's Quality Objectives, track the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and implement strategies to reduce defects and inefficiencies.
• Innovation in Inspection Methods: Use creative skills to design and implement jigs, fixtures, and other methods to simplify inspection processes, enhancing the reliability and efficiency of quality assessments.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, especially through the quality circle team, to elevate quality standards across the organization.
• QAPs for New Parts: Ensure the timely preparation and release of Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs) for all new parts, ensuring compliance with quality standards and timely delivery.

Competency Requirements:

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of experience in manufacturing and heavy industry, preferably with exposure to heavy engineering work and machinery.
• The candidate must be willing to relocate and work at the Kanchipuram location.
• Proficiency in NDT Level 2 techniques, quality control, and quality assurance processes.
• Familiarity with heavy machining outputs and manufacturing equipment like CNC, VMC, and HMC.
• Strong managerial skills with experience in leading teams and improving skill sets, along with proficiency in reading engineering drawings and understanding welding processes and materials.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
