Agronomist - Nigeria

We are currently on a look out for an Agronomist, to investigate and implement solutions for our forestry & agro business and farming initiatives. In this role, you will examine, research, and solve problems related to crop management, output, and quality. You will also develop tailored agronomic approaches and oversee interventions on behalf of the company.

Key Responsibilities are as follows:

• To handle the entire farm set-up and layout.
• Responsible for monthly budget planning and execution of field operations to develop and maintain as per proposed budget.
• Must be cost-conscious and able to ensure the running cost is justifiable as proposed.
• As per year target able to plan for developing nursery and maintenance of bag plants, application and spraying of nutrients, growth regulators, & pesticides etc.
• Good knowledge of sprinkler systems and carrying out preventive maintenance in poly houses and greenhouses.
• To have a fair knowledge of the plantation of timber species (Tectona grandis (Teak)) and pest management.
• Good knowledge of pre-planting and post-planting operations to train and share knowledge with National agronomists, supervisors and farm workers to meet project objectives.
• To arrange an irrigation system for non-rainy days (summer, winter and during excessive heat) to maintain the Teak plantations.
• Sound in fire control measures to prevent fire accidents in the fields during the summer season.
• To handle manpower and should have the knowledge to handle the person for getting good work output.
• To know the handling of farm types of equipment like disc plough, rotavator, ridge and harrow to maintain the plantations as well as pre-planting operations.
