Role & responsibilities

• Patient care GPs provide primary care for patients, including routine check-ups, examinations, and diagnosis. They also provide emergency care, and may deliver babies and offer pre- and post-natal care.
• Medication and treatment GPs prescribe and administer medications and treatments, and may perform or assist in routine surgery.
• Diagnostic procedures GPs perform diagnostic procedures such as x-rays, blood tests, and biopsies. They may also perform procedural and operative skills such as suturing and inserting needles.
• Patient records GPs maintain accurate patient files, including records of diseases, operations, and other significant information.
• Patient education GPs provide advice on healthy habits and preventative actions to promote overall health. They may also counsel patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues.
• Continuity of care GPs build long-term relationships with their patients, providing personalized care and following up on ongoing health concerns.
• Collaboration GPs collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physician assistants and nurses, to develop care plans and ensure continuity of care. They may also refer patients to other physicians when needed.
• Professional development GPs remain up-to-speed with developments and best practices in medicine by attending conferences and seminars.
