Position
ROLE OVERVIEW:
We are recruiting for a Financial Manager to be based in our Chennai office. Headquartered in the UK, JMAN Group has offices in London, Chennai and New York. We are building a global finance function in our Chennai office, where we already employ 3 trainee accountants. Based in India, this is a global management role. You will be expected to build, manage and delegate to a team. This is a key appointment in the build out of our finance function. You will report directly to the London based Global Financial Controller.
The role s responsibilities broadly divide into two
  • Ensuring the financial integrity and accuracy of the global accounting ledgers.
  • To mentor, supervise, coach and manage the finance team in Chennai.


Requirements
Key Responsibilities: Management of a team
We employ three trainee accountants in our Chennai office, who are currently being managed remotely, by our team in London and a remote employee in Mumbai. A key aspect of this role is the day to day, onsite management of these employees. You will ensure they are receiving appropriate support and mentoring on their journeys to become Chartered Accountants.
JMAN is a fast growing, private equity backed, business. It is our intention to expand the finance team in Chennai to support the growth of the global business. To do that we need robust management.
Maintenance of the accounting ledgers
You will use your team to ensure that the accounting ledgers, for each global entity, are up to date and accurate at all times. Specifically, in each jurisdiction, you will be responsible for the accuracy of the
Sales Ledger
Purchase ledger
Banking ledgers
Nominal / General Ledger
Preparation of entity level management accounts
At month end, your team will be responsible for the preparation of entity level management accounts.
As well as the basic accounting, you will be responsible for conducting analytical reviews, investigating variances, and presenting your findings to the Head of FP&A.
Financial Processes and Controls
The role involves setting up best in class global financial processes and controls. You will be expected to
Working alongside your global colleagues, establish best in class processes and controls, for JMAN
Document the end-to-end processes in the form a detailed process flow (e.g. using Visio)
Train and manage the team to ensure the processes are being followed
Regularly (quarterly) review the processes to ensure we continue to follow best practice
Billing and Credit Control
You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the complete invoicing process, from invoice creation to client payment collection. This will include:
Ensuring timely and accurate invoicing
Managing regular credit control procedures
Escalating issues to the client team when necessary
Supplier Management
You will design, implement and manage an end-to-end supplier management process from receiving a purchase order, accounting for it correctly, to eventually paying the supplier. The process should include
Implementing a global PO system
Managing weekly payment runs
Liaising with budget holders


Qualifications:
Education Chartered Accountancy Qualification from any recognised body (e.g. CA India, ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CPA)
Experience Experience of running accounting month ends and managing a team would be ideal, but not essential.
Skills Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Technical Proficiency Proficient with financial software; advanced Excel skills.
