Team Description :

The Insurance Platform team is dedicated to providing peace of mind for our guests and hosts with innovative insurance products. Since 2022, we have successfully launched guest travel insurance in the US, CA, UK, and EU (8 countries) markets.

Our Insurance Platform Expansion plays a critical role in the organization's goals to expand the global eligibility for guest travel insurance, and build new platforms to support its growth scalably. We strive to broaden the product reach to all markets, user types, and usage areas. Our work impacts every Airbnb guest by providing them with easy and confident access to the protection they need.

The Indian pod of the Expansion team will be an important partner of the US team that focuses on global market expansion and maintenance, develops and improves 3rd party integrations, and enhances technical / tooling systems for future product development.

Role Description :

- Participates actively in problem definition and solutioning. Independently maps use-cases, patterns / anti patterns and provide extensible design with right separation of concern and abstractions keeping impact of design change and backward compatibility in mind.

- Designs and develops modular, extensible, readable, testable, and performant, secured code. Participates in code review.

- Keeps application security as top of the mind, follows secure design architecture and design standards and practices

- Creates technical solution artefacts

- Troubleshoots cross component issues, issues identified during static analysis, penetration testing or deployment. Narrows down to root causes and solves the symptoms

- Uses advanced language constructs, design principles, design patterns, libraries and frameworks being used, right data structure, performance and scalability concepts, tools, and Tech stacks and be able to apply appropriately.

- Good to have : Based in Bangalore and can work in-person with the pod and other Airbnb engineers

Skill and Experience :

- Strong 6 to 10 years of technical & architecture experience in IC role

- Strong experience in JAVA, Microservices, SQL

- Experience on System Design & Distributed systems Architecture

- Hands-on Coding Experience Using Data Structures and Algorithms, Design Patterns and on Cloud Applications

- Excellent Problem-Solving ability; Attention to detail demonstrated by ability to follow and develop specific, outlined and detailed procedures

- Experienced on Agile Methodologies, CI/CD and DevOps

- Good communication, collaboration, interpersonal skills; self-driven & end-to-end ownership of stakeholders engagement

- Previous experience in Airbnb projects and micro services systems is good to have

- Knowledgeable/Experienced on Insurance Domain is good to have
