Job Summary
How You Will Contribute
Build & deliver highly scalable Linux solutions to support various opensource OT and scientific solutions.
Build and manage integration of enterprise monitoring solutions such as Prometheus, Zabbix, and Grafana into overall solutions.
Manage multiple Linux based images across on-premises and cloud designed on RHEL, CentOS, SUSE and others. Recommend and consolidate Linux deployments.
Utilize open-source configuration management tools to develop the automated deployment of virtual server instances and environments in AWS using various DevOps toolchain, such as Puppet, Ansible, ServiceNow, Jenkins, Docker, native AWS tools, Terraform, lambda, Kubernetes, etc.
Build and design secure, well-instrumented, highly available, and strictly automated reproducible infrastructure. Optimize infrastructure deployments for speed, cost, availability, and scale.
Participate in agile SDLC delivering products and solutions with scrum methodologies.
Conduct research on emerging Linux technologies in support of infrastructure development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility.
Familiarity with interacting with RESTful API(s).
Basic understanding of relational and non-relational databases.
Understanding of agile software development lifecycle methodologies and Scrum/Kanban.
Experience with core LAN/WAN network technologies, route tables, access control lists, firewalls, NAT, HTTP, DNS, IP and OSI Network.
Experience in a hybrid on-premises and AWS/Azure development and production environment is highly desirable.
Provides work guidance and training to less experienced personnel.
Provides problem resolution support for systems and networks; and working with the other members of the Operations staff to ensure that the systems and networks are performing at required levels of reliability and availability.
Monitor all production systems to include servers, storage, network, and applications.
Monitoring of facilities and datacenter infrastructure.
Manage all incidents to include initial troubleshooting, escalation, notification, and remediation Create, Update and Manage tickets and escalations via e-mail, phone call or “Service Now” trouble ticketing system.
Participate in incident and problem support activities including RCA (Root Cause Analysis) when requested.
Investigate, diagnose, and take prescribed actions on all operational events, alarms, and incidents.
Maintain operational logs and journals on all events, warnings, alerts, and alarms, recording and classifying all messages; maintain all operational data collection procedures, mechanisms, and tools.
Works with manager and team leads to maintain all operational documentation and processes.
Responsible for updating the Shift Lead System Support Engineer, Manager, or other key stakeholders with any updates on outstanding issues.
Ensure that all routine maintenance tasks are completed.
What you will need to be successful
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering or any other relevant discipline.
Minimum 7 years of experience in Information systems focused on building solutions on Linux operating system.
Excellent knowledge of Linux flavours/families (Debian, SUSE, RHEL)
Monitor performance, troubleshoot problems and outages, schedule upgrades and provide continual improvement to your area of responsibility.
Ensure all platforms are secure, working within our security team to ensure that systems are updated as and when necessary, and implementing any urgent fixes/mitigations responding to threats as they arise.
Create and maintain scripts to automate administrative procedures.
Strong scripting ability in Shell/Python/PowerShell preferred.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Proficient in Foreman/RedHat Satellite 6.X or equivalent solutions
Manage/Maintain application.
Configuring new products.
Build custom AK/LCE/CV(s)/HG(s).
Patching, System deployment, Template building.
Strong knowledge of system provisioning tools preferably Ansible.
Good knowledge of monitoring and monitoring solutions preferably in some or all the below.
Zabbix (Deployment of server/proxy/agent, template building, configuration, customization)
Dynatrace
Grafana (Deployment, building custom dashboards based of different datastores)
Loki (Deployment of cluster, configuration, building dashboards in Grafana for logs)
Solid experience with container technology and orchestrators.
Manage/maintain clusters while performing capacity planning and performance monitoring.
Build/deploy custom containers to meet the needs of the business.
Ability to troubleshoot container failures and performance issues.
Strong understanding of networking (DNS/DHCP/TFTP/Routing/etc..).
Strong VMWare knowledge, including but not limited to Cluster/Hypervisor/VM management, Network troubleshooting, Performance analysis, automation.
Self-driven individual who has the personal drive to enhance and fix issues they see during the day. While ensuring process/procedures are being performed.
Keen interest in the Open-Source community and Open-Source technology.
