Global Desk Lead - National & International Desk

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic National and International News Desk Lead to join our editorial team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in journalism, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to manage a diverse team covering a broad spectrum of news topics. This role involves overseeing coverage of national, international, breaking, and political news, as well as creating exclusive news content.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the national and international news desk, managing daily editorial operations and ensuring comprehensive coverage of key news stories.

- Supervise and mentor a team of reporters and journalists, providing guidance, feedback, and support to maintain high journalistic standards.

- Coordinate news coverage, assign stories, and ensure timely and accurate reporting on national, international, breaking, and political news.

- Create exclusive news content, including in-depth reports, interviews, and investigative pieces.

- Edit and proofread articles for clarity, accuracy, and adherence to editorial guidelines.

- Collaborate with the digital team to optimize content for the mobile platform, including headlines, images, and multimedia elements.

- Monitor news trends and emerging stories, ensuring the platform remains current and competitive.

- Develop and maintain relationships with key sources, experts, and contributors.

- Ensure compliance with journalistic ethics and legal standards.

- Work closely with other editorial teams to integrate national and international news into the broader news agenda.

Qualifications:

- Degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.

- A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing the national and international desk, with at least 2 years in an editorial or leadership role.

- Fluency in English and Hindi

- Proven translation skills and experience in adapting content for different audiences.

- Proven track record of managing a newsroom or editorial team.

- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

- Strong news judgment and a keen eye for detail.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

- Familiarity with mobile news platforms and digital content optimization.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- A proactive and flexible approach to work.
