Job role: Senior Buyer

For a French origin international organisation specializing in the manufacturing of springs and Mechanical components.

Job Responsibilities

Supplier Identification and Validation

• Identify, select, and validate potential new suppliers for the Group in India, ensuring alignment with the company's technical and commercial objectives.
• Negotiate and secure optimal purchasing conditions for raw materials, components, and subcontracting, considering cost, cash flow, quality, and delivery timelines.

Local Office Management

• Oversee the establishment of a local Indian buying office, including the recruitment and management of a French trainee or equivalent and a part-time quality/technical consultant.

Strategic Expansion

• Assess the feasibility and strategic interest to participate of setting up a manufacturing site in India.

Coordination and Support

• Serve as the primary interface between suppliers and various internal teams across company's sites.
• Support the resolution of supply chain challenges by providing local logistics assistance.

Working Environment

Internal

• Reports to the Asia Director and works closely with the Group Purchasing Director.
• Collaborates with buyers from other sites.
• Based in India, operating initially from a business center under a PEO arrangement for 1-2 years.

External

• Direct interaction with suppliers and subcontractors.

Key Activities

• Research and monitor opportunities for new suppliers through fairs, forums, networking, and online platforms.
• Manage the supplier evaluation process, including the administration of assessment questionnaires.
• Support company plants with local logistics during supply chain disruptions.
• Support company plants for quality issues with supplier by following up local action plan, improvement and implementation of corrective action.

Required Skills

• Strong negotiation skills to persuade and reach agreements with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Basic knowledge of auditing standards (ISO, IATF).
• High level of organization and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in English, French is a plus.
• Expertise in commercial negotiation techniques.
• Well-established network of Indian metal raw material suppliers.
• 10 to 15 years experience in a tiers 1 automotive costumers as purchaser for Stainless steel or carbon steel wire / strip /cable products is a plus.
• Good basic of quality management in supplier side.
• Wiling to travel 50% of the time in INDIA, but also worldwide (EUROPE, THAILANDE, CHINA, AMERICA
• Minimum Bachelor degree or ideally master degree with a technical major
