JOB PROFILE
The senior finance manager will oversee the company's financial operations, reporting, and compliance functions. This role is pivotal in ensuring the organisation's financial sustainability while adhering to the regulatory requirements governing Section 8 companies in India. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen, experience with non-profit financial management, and a passion for working in a purpose-driven environment.
The incumbent will partner with senior leadership and Human Resources (HR) to enhance and better integrate the finance, program and HR functions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Financial Strategy & Planning:
a. Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organisation's long-term goals.
b. Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
c. Advise senior management on financial matters and funding strategies.
2. Financial Reporting & Compliance:
a. Prepare accurate financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with Indian accounting standards and Section 8 regulations.
b. Oversee statutory audits and ensure timely filing of financial statements with regulatory bodies.
c. Ensure compliance with the Companies Act, Income Tax Act, FCRA, and other relevant regulations.
3. Internal Controls & Risk Management:
a. Develop and implement robust internal control systems to safeguard the company's assets.
b. Manage financial risks, identify potential concerns, and implement corrective measures.
c. Ensure effective financial governance aligned with the company's mission and goals.
4. Cash Flow Management:
a. Oversee cash flow management, ensuring liquidity for operational and strategic needs.
b. Manage banking relationships and optimise investment of surplus funds in accordance with legal restrictions on Section 8 companies.
5. Taxation & Legal Compliance:
a. Oversee all tax-related matters, including direct and indirect taxes (e.g., GST, TDS), and ensure compliance with charitable tax exemptions.
b. Liaise with external auditors, legal counsel, and regulatory authorities to address financial and compliance issues.
6. Fund Management & Grants:
a. Manage funds and grants from various donors, ensuring proper accounting and reporting.
b. Track and report on utilising grants and funds, ensuring transparency.
7. Team Leadership:
a. Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, ensuring high performance and professional development.
b. Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support for decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- ICAI and ICMAI (Finance).
- Minimum of 10-12 years experience, with at least 3-4 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations related to Section 8 companies and non-profit financial reporting.
SKILLS
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in financial management software and MS Excel.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
