Opening For Data/Policy (Economist)

Job Summary:

The Senior/Executive Officer will play a crucial role in analyzing and presenting data related to the machine tool industry. This position requires excellent communication skills, analytical expertise, and proficiency in advanced Excel, data forecasting methodologies, and tools such as Power BI and Looker. The individual will be responsible for data analysis, report generation, and coordinating with various stakeholders, including government agencies and industry members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Analysis & Reporting:
• Conduct ad-hoc data analysis requests from government agencies, members, and external organizations focused on machine tool industry trends, market size, forecasts etc.
• Compile and analyze monthly import-export data from multiple databases.
• Gather quarterly sales data from members for trend analysis.
• Consolidate annual industry data figures and prepare comprehensive reports.

• Publications & Presentations:
• Oversee the publication of key industry reports.
• Develop and maintain the Ten-Year Industry Database in Looker/Power BI.
• Prepare presentations of industry data trends for Executive Committee (EC) meetings and other key stakeholders.
• Compile quarterly user sector news updates and maintain the Indian Machine Tool User Sectors Project Investment Dashboard.

• Stakeholder Engagement:
• Coordinate with external agencies for collaborative works (market research projects, business feasibility studies)
• Participate in and support the organization of IMTMA Quarterly Town Hall Meetings.
• Conduct presentations and demos of publications for stakeholders, ensuring clarity and engagement.
• Coordinate with Trade Fairs team to compile and derive business generation figures for IMTEX/Regional Expos.

• Communication & Administration:
• Draft and circulate announcements, surveys, and information to membership effectively.
• Attend IMTMAs key stakeholder meetings, contributing insights and data-driven perspectives.
• Monitor and update the IMTMAs publications webpage with pricing and content information.

• Market Insights & Marketing:
• Market and sell IMTMA publications, ensuring awareness and accessibility for members and stakeholders.
• Prepare articles on industry and macroeconomic trends for publications like Modern Manufacturing India (MMI) Magazine.
• Manage the data sharing process with international agencies to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Data Science, Economics, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.

• Experience: Preferably 5 years of experience in data analysis, industry research, or a related role, preferably within the manufacturing sector.

• Technical Skills:
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including data forecasting methodologies.
• Experience with Power BI and Looker for data visualization and analysis.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex data in a clear and engaging manner.
