Systems Admin and Site Reliability Engineer

The Center of Data for Public Good (CDPG) is an interdisciplinary research center at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, focusing on Data Science for translational research in domains such as Traffic & Transportation, Air Quality, Geospatial Analytics, Agriculture, and Health Care. We are building a Digital Twin for mobility by combining many data sources such ANPR, telco, AVLS, and incident data with key measurements such as vehicle counts and speeds extracted from video feeds from surveillance cameras. These measurements will be used in building a mobility model which can predict traffic congestion and anomalies, and also support short-term and long-term scenario analysis for use cases such as road closures, major events and infrastructure planning. As part of this exciting project, we are looking for Linux System Admins and Reliability Engineers to manage our data acquisition and compute cluster on the premises of Indian Institute of Science and BTPs (Bangalore Traffic Police’s) Traffic Management Centre. (This job will require a limited amount of travel within Bangalore.)

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain video stream data acquisition platform on an on-premise compute cluster
2. Troubleshoot video acquisition processes using FFMPEG
3. Maintain and manage Networking infrastructure
4. Maintain and manage storage infrastructure (NAS, SAN)
5. Ensure Data pipelines downstream are being fed with continuous RTSP streams
6. Acquire any other datastreams through APIs or files by writing data conversion scripts in Python
7. Onboard these data sources to IUDX along with metadata
