Job Description
Title:Program Manager AI Centre of Excellence - Mobility at IISc.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Project Manager to lead and coordinate the multi-disciplinary AI initiatives for the mobility domain, contributing to IISc s critical role in this transformative endeavour. A. Key Responsibilities 1. Project Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of AI-driven projects in IISc s mobility domain, in close coordination with the faculty team at IISc.
- Engage closely with the AI COE leads at IIT-K and with the Coordination Team at IIT-Jammu, including preparing and presenting of progress reports to Technical Review committees, engaging with other consortium partners, etc.
- Ensure alignment with the Ministry of Education s and various stakeholders objectives, project deliverables, and timelines.
- Act as the interface between IISc researchers, consortium partners, government agencies and industry stakeholders.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary research efforts on applying state of the art AI methods on computer vision, Graph Neural Networks, etc. to intelligent transportation systems, sustainable urban mobility, and related applications.
- Support the development of demonstrable AI solutions for four mobility areas: congestion, safety, sustainability and strategic planning.
- Engage with government agencies and other stakeholders for on-ground deployment of the mobility solutions of the project.
- Coordinate with faculty, researchers, and technical teams to ensure human and compute resource optimization, and adherence to project goals and timelines.
- Manage procurement, funding utilization, and reporting as per project guidelines.
- Oversee administrative and financial support staff for the project.
- Maintain project documentation, including progress reports, compliance records, and financial summaries, in line with Ministry of Education requirements and supported by administrative staff.
- Monitor risks, address challenges, and ensure project continuity and success.
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering in relevant fields. Master s degree or Ph.D. strongly preferred, with a focus on AI, transportation, systems engineering, or other relevant areas.
- 5+ years of project management experience, preferably in academia, research, or large-scale interdisciplinary projects.
- Hands-on experience in AI and/or mobility-related technologies such as Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic modelling, or autonomous systems.
- Familiarity with managing government-funded projects or working in a consortium model is an advantage.
