Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of library by organizing the library database and help students/ faculty find materials and resources, developing and updating the inventory of books/journals/magazines, ensure cleanliness, order, and protection of the libraries resources, conduct regular checks and updates on database information/ e-library and supervise library assistants.
KRA 1-Procurement & Resource Management
Roles & responsibilities
1. Evaluate resource requirement (department wise) and coordinate with publishers for procuring the same
2. Examine book reviews, publishers' catalogues, and other information sources to recommend material for acquisition
3. Collect quotations from different vendors and publishers for making comparative statement and writing in the purchase order.
4. Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery of the books.
5. Ensure due diligence is maintained in the process for accession registration and data entry of procured material
6. Ensure physical verification of the library stocks to identify any losses, misplaced books/journals, identifying materials that need repair, etc.
KRA 2-Library Infrastructure & Digital Library Support
1. Ensure seamless access to digital library services like INFLIBNET, DELNET, SAGE DIGITAL LIBRARY OF INDIA, PG PATASHALA
2. Assist the users for accessing OPAC, reference books, Periodicals Back volumes and Digital Library
3. Share insights on trends and developments in information technologies, networking, library automation, library cooperation etc.
4. Contribute in the development of library infrastructure, facilities, products and services
5. Process the registration of new students in the library system using their ID cards
6. Follow up with borrowers by sending reminders for any overdues
7. Provide support in organizing Book Exhibition/ Departmental programs.
KRA 3-Team Management
Roles & responsibilities
1. Ensure the assistants check each book issue before the borrower exits the library
2. Educate library staff to detect stolen books through physical examination of books
3. Ensure library assistants follow all the desired protocols and processes for smooth functioning of the library services
Educational Qualifications:
Master in Library Science
Work Experience:
4-6 years of experience
